PROJECT 1 - ROOF TRUSS
For this project, we were required to redesign a roof by incorporating truss design. In a group of 5, we selected a member's design of a Visitor Interpretive Centre from Studio III for this project. We were made to submit an A2 visual board and also a scale model of the roof truss design.
''Bukit Cina is a hill that acts as a cemetery as well as a recreational park for people residing around it. Radiance is a Visitor Interpretive Centre that focuses on radiating the sense of familiarity and belonging of Bukit Cina towards the visitors. It has a courtyard at the centre and above it a circular skylight allows natural light to permeate and connect with all the spaces on the ground floor.
Circular planar trusses are proposed for the building as it reinforces the radial concept and is quick to pre-fabricate and install. The parallel chord truss is the main component of the truss system installed on the ground floor ceiling so that it supports the load of the first floor. Fabrication costs are greatly reduced as it is able to span the circular ceiling with a radial arrangement. Also, steel columns were installed to transfer load effectively from the truss to the ground.''

PROJECT 2 - STRUCTURAL CALCULATIONS
In a small group of 3, we were required to utilise simple plans to design a simple bungalow and its structural beams and columns. After the design process, we were made to select 6 beams and 3 columns individually for calculation purposes.
